Any suggestions on tweeter replacements if we're doing the 6x8's in the rest of the cab? I'm looking for simpliest install with better then oem results. or should i just leave the oem tweeter?

Since the OEM tweeter is already in there, I say roll with it, and see how it sounds first. Never know what it sounds like until you try it.
The cool news is it is easy to see what kind of a difference it makes by simply disconnecting it. I believe it will help with the image and sound stage, however it may also over accentuate frequencies from 4K and up. Hard to say until you hear it.

Bringing this back from the dead, Jeff if you dont mind, do you know if this is the same for the non-Sony in a 2012 with factory A-Pillar speakers? The Sony has a separate output from the factory amplifier to the tweeter and mid where in the standard audio system I have yet to find a wiring diagram showing where the tweeter is powered from... Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated! I am trying to figure out what to do and have a few options picked out on Crutchfield...

I still have the stock door speakers but I have a 5 chan amp ran to my door speakers and 2 10" kicker cvrs under my back seat and the stock door speakers sound amazing with the amp powering them more

Mr. telephone pole
The tweeter wires are actually wired into the door speaker wires in the main dash harness close to either corner of the dash. They are wired ++ and -- to the door speaker wires, and the filter is built into the wiring of the tweeter just like yours.
