I prefer modified pillars or pods to mount drivers, but the cost starts at $500 and easily doubles/triples. Valicar is considerable less which is the attention getter.
I don't mind spending on the drivers but the housing cost for those drivers is disproportionately expensive.

Upsides:
Cost
Angle ability always adjustable
Custom built for your speakers
Look and sound nice (doesn't cause the speakers to sound worse, maybe lower sensitivity with midrange but nothing major) in my opinion
Downsides:
You definitely know they are there and does not look factory
cuts down the stage width due to how they are mounted (could move tweeter to door and help with that though...
Getting them to not bounce as you are driving and for that to look nice
