Default USB Hard Drive Works!

Started copying a few albums over to a memory stick in FLAC format yesterday, plugged it into my Sync 3 and everything appeared and indexed quickly and played fine. Remembered I had a 500GB WD Passport sitting around collecting dust, but wasn't sure if the Sync USB port had enough juice to power it. Surprise, surprise, it sure does. Looks like I'll be copying a sh*t ton of music off my home server to keep on the Passport in the truck, nice....

Let us know how long it takes to index that 500GB. The problem with large drives is that it takes forever to index them and everytime you use it, it indexes again. Very frustrating. I found anything larger than a 32G maybe a 64G doesn't work very well.

Agree. I tried a 64GB flash drive and had too many issues to be usable. Settled on 32GB. Even with that, have at least 80 albums on the drive and only half full. How much does a person need?

It only indexes the first time you plug it in... At least with my usb drive. It throws an error anytime I remove it and replug it in, but if I leave it plugged in, it's fine after a few minutes. I'm using a Samsung 128GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Fit (MUF-128BB/AM) FWIW. Sync 3 late build '16

Same as above, mine doesnt index every time. As long as its plugged in, I have no issues. Also using a Samsung 128gb flash drive. I also have the updated USB apple play module.
