Default Upgrade Stock Speakers 2017 SCab With Kickers?

Crutchfield is running a special on Kicker right now, looking for model recommendations for my 2017 SCab. No added amplification, needs to work with existing Sync 3 head unit.

- 6.5" rounds, or 6x9"?
- Install 2 way speakers in front, or components? If two way, leave the existing pillar tweeters connected or disconnect?

Easiest would be 6x9. You could leave the factory tweeters hooked up(I did )

If you left the factory tweeters hooked up, did you just get the 2-way 6x9 or did you get the 3-way 6x9?

^ From what I have read because I am upgrading everything... Don't buy 3 way... Only buy 2 way. Low, Mid, High... No more. So tweeters, speakers, and a sub.

2 way. 3 way is not needed whether you keep the factory tweeters or not

Two way it is then, saves me a few bucks. Regarding the stock pillar tweeters, what's the easiest way to disconnect them? Once I install the new Kickers, I'd like to listen to the setup both ways to decide if I leave them connected or not.

They are hooked up with another wire that runs up to them attached to the door speaker

As a new owner and this being literally my first thread contribution (loving the truck!) can you get away with 6x9's in the rear doors also? Or do you have to stay with the 6.5's there?

Speaking strictly from a speaker pov, I second the recommendation on 2 way's being your best bet with the tweeters in the front. Good luck.

5 1/4" and 6 1/2" rounds are the only thing that fits the back doors.
