Default SYNC be gone??

2011 FX4 sync1
I'm I'm looking to install an aftermarket head unit. But it's about $300 cheaper if I lose the sync. Is there any any benefit for me keeping the sync system? I'm not at all sure that I even use it for anything..

I use sync for my iPhone while driving . Really like the fact i can call and talk and keep my hands on the wheel . That’s all i use it for but i wont delete it . For you if you don’t and won’t need it then do what’s brst for you . I’m just curious as to why you have to delete it ??

If you only need Bluetooth for your phone then I would just go with an aftermarket with BT

If you don't use steering wheel controls then don't get the Maestro module that interfaces the new stereo with the truck. It's the same module that interfaces sync just so you're aware of it. You lose both.

i kept sync installed when i went with an aftermarket deck and the maestro rr. i have since found i never use sync. the pioneer has everything sync does and more since my truck did not come with nav. if you get the features you want in your aftermarket deck you won't need sync.

I did as well, not for sync but for my steering wheel controls, funny thing is though, sync seems to work better with the Alpine I put in. Haven't figured that one out but I'm not complaining.

I only use Blue tooth and run phone calls thru my radio. I dont think Sync1 does anything else.

Had Kenwood in my 16, did not miss sync whatsoever, everything was so much nicer, used Pac interface and had programmable steering wheel buttons, put the mic in factory location and people told me phone sounded like a land line
