Sub Box Construction Question

Sub Box Construction Question
I've been looking at pre-fabbed sub boxes and am not seeing anything that is a perfect fit. Consequently, I'm looking at taking a crack at my first own box build. I came across this:

The diagram in question is about halfway down the page. The point of interest is the change in profile height, where the line in the middle indicates a height of 6 3/4".
My question is: how do you join the top lengthwise panel where the two pieces meet? You have one piece running lengthwise across the top that is 6 5/8" and another that is 7 7/8". How do you join them together to negate any chance of air leaks? Are they simply cut and joined at a 45 degree angle? If so, do you simply glue it?
Thanks in advance.

I would always use some kind of nails and glue to construct the box and then use a caulk on the inside edges to seal it up really well. Don't count on just glue to hold the pressure.

I'll use nails, glue and caulk to seal the box.
I'm just wondering about that one specific joint. Are the two pieces of the top simply cut at 45 degrees and then glued together? I don't think you could use nails at that specific juncture.
