IDK why anyone follows Steve. He is a terrible person. Go find his youtube vids and read what he writes in the comments. Go on forums he participates and read what he writes to people. Its terrible, unprofessional, and childish. I'll never buy a SMD product, EVER... including from companies like Gately that associate with such a person. I've never said anything like that about any business I've encountered. Steve is the worst and constantly earns the title.

For starters you are gonna need twice the power(@RMS) for the 8's than the 12's which also implies you will be outside your stock electrical capacity on the 8's yet not the 12's. Are you ready to add bigger alt, lithium or more AGM to handle the power difference? I would use a 4K amp on those 8's...a good true 4k. I have 112ah of Headway going to my Sundown Audio SALT-4 @.5
As far as your question, no clue...most people here don't build their own enclosures. I have a Gately, but there are many other options out there. Get on FB and join the Sundown Group, any Truck Audio Groups. Next Level Fabrications also builds my enclosures, also on FB. Also some build your own enclosure groups on FB.

If you had the right enclosure for those subs and correct amount of power to push them I would say yes. Those 8's over those12's yes. But like I said you need to think about the power and if you want to step up to electrical upgrades. You can get really good bass from the 12's and stay under your power limit. Look at what the shops are doing for our trucks and 12's. Sure it's down firing and probable mostly 500-750 rms subs on a 1000-1500 amp. Does Fox Acoustic make one for your truck? Custom is always the best option....or see what enclosure programs are out there and do it yourself.
