Default speakers cutting out

maybe someone can help me out, i've recently installed a new stereo in my truck everything works fine at lower volumes. When I turn it up the front speakers cut out and the amp goes into "safe" mode. The amp should have plenty of power to power the speakers, its a RF 200.2. I have it grounded to the body of the truck, does anyone have any idea why this is happening? It's almost like theres not enough power to power the amp. It will play the vocals but as soon as theres any bass it starts to clip. any help would be great.

What exactly is hooked to it? Is it a sub amp or for your front stage? What speakers? What ohm loads? Have u checked all your connections? Does the amp get hot?

I'm not really understanding what's going on. At first u say it goes into protect and at the end of the post u say it clips. Theres a big diference, do u have your gain turned up to high this causes alot of amps to get protect happy

I understand I was new at one time. But that's not clipping if it cuts off. It's sounds like your amp is gradually going bad it will most likly get worse and worse. This may not be what it is but from experience that's it.
I have had some really stupid things happen tho just chek all the wires thoroughly
