Default Speaker Baffles

What's the consensus on these? I ran across these XTC speaker baffles while browsing Crutchfield. I can see the benefit of protecting the speakers from water, dust and dirt. I also thought about what the benefit would be, if any, wrapping them with Dynamat before installing them. This just for the door speakers. As you may know, it doesn't take much volume for the sound to resonate through the sheet metal and I guess, that's one reason why people 'Dynamat' their doors but, I don't want to add the extra weight or spend that kind of money to reduce the sound through the doors. What do you think about this. Crazy idea or is it something that has been done? I would think wrapping them with Dynamat would reduce the sound through the sheet metal at least to some degree?

You'll want to cover the door with sound dampener, not the speakers. Although generally not necessary, baffles aren't a bad idea to help keep moisture off your speakers. But it's considered good practice to cut out the bottom ~1/3 to 1/2 to allow the air behind the speakers to move freely.

Maybe I should have been more clear. I don't mean to wrap the speaker with Dynamat, just the baffles. I understand about ensuring there is a hole for the backpressure to escape. Just wondering if there would be any benefit to wrapping the baffles with Dynamat, pressure release whole included. I figure if I do this, it would reduce the 'door resonance'. This could be a crazy idea, I know but, then again, I'm prone to crazy.

Reading it again, I see what you were trying to say now. I don't think there's any benefit to wrapping the baffles. They're just foam and don't cause any resonance issues like the hard metal and plastic panels do.
