yea. i want to guarantee that it works tho. so i think im gonna go with the fuse 38 and jumper.

and then also:

I want to bounce another idea off someone, not related to my remote wire situation.

The way my amp is mounted right now its kind of hard to get my speaker wires in. I mean i can do it, but its kind of a pain. I thought about putting a short extension that i would leave inserted into the amp and then put a quick connect on the end so i could easily connect/disconnect my speaker wires at any given point.

Would i run into any problems doing this?

Default Updates: Long Post, Please read though.

as promised, updates, sorry for the long post:

Got the power working to the units last night. As predicted a jumper fuse to #38 in the kick panel did the truck for my remote wire. And I also changed the location of my ground wire. I picked up a ground lug from ACE hardware with a 3/8" ring on it, and it fits perfectly on the bolt that holds the middle seat belt in place. i removed the seat belt bolt with a large torx bit, and then used my dremel to grind down whatever paint was around the hole and that's where my ground is right on bare metal on the back of the cab. Works great!

Got everything else hooked up and configured my clean sweep. All you have to do is put the supplied CD on track 1, and then click the "configure" button on the clean sweep. it flashes a bunch of lights and goes all red right before switching back to all green. kinda freaked me out, but the manual says "the lights will flash various colors to entertain you while the unit configures" lol

Then I started to set my input sensitivity on my Amp. Got my channels 1&2, and 3&4 set at about 17v (JL audio recommends 17.4 maximum for 4ohm loads) I figured id go a hair lower. The CD from the clean sweep also has a sine wave at 1khz for settings speaker channel inputs, pretty nice. I had already made a CD from a files i found online, but the clean sweep CD surprised me!

But then when I tried setting my input sensitivity on my Sub-woofer channel I was not able to get any kind of reading using the 50hz sine wave tone on the CD....but after I thought about it, that makes sense, because i don't have a sub-woofer "input" going to the amp. All i have is an output going to the sub. my clean sweep has only 4 outputs of RCA and those go to channels 1&2 and 3&4. So that makes me wonder for what I should set my input sensitivity to on my woofer channel. for now i just set it slightly higher than minimum. I also put my sub in my sub box and wired it all up inside the box using 12awg speaker cable. the sub box from supercrewsound is pretty solid.

You have to remove the jack and the jack mount under neath the seat to make the sub box fit, and once you do the sub box fits in there pretty tight. I had to remove my very nice FX4 floor mat because it didnt fit anymore. not thrilled about that. but oh well. I also lose functionality folding my rear seat. oh well.

Still do do:
1. I talked to a guy over on f150online and he totally covered his passenger cab vent on the back wall with dynamat, and half covered the drivers side one. I think im gonna do this, because those vents to make a lot of noise. he says there is no problems with cab pressure having only half a vent open.

2. still need to run my wires for my clean sweep master sound **** and sub channel remote ****. I have lots of room on my passenger side with my power cable, so ill prolly run it over there. I dont know where I am gonna mount the ***** on the front end yet, but i really dont wanna drill holes in my dash, so Ill have to figure something out.

3. still need to tweak my channel frequencies. for now i had channel 1&2 on x1 at about 80hz. channel 3&4, high pass, at about 150 or 200 cant remember. sub channel at 24db about 80 hz again. I didnt really crank the music up yet cuz i didnt wannt blow anything. ive read the polks need to break in for a little while before you really crank them.

4. I noticed a hiss in my tweeters last night after i had turned off the radio.....the key was still in the car but the radio was off. Dunno what that was about, but ill diagnose it later. None of the the other speakers hiss at all, just the tweeters. I turned the crossover down to -3db and the hissing lowered slightly but it was still there.

5. Fix my SIRIUS radio antenna. I am still getting a "antenna fault." I had the connector out the other night again and it looks fine. but idk, maybe the dealer needs to flash my truck to make it work again....thatll cost 100 bucks. and then I need to re-seat my FM/AM antenna i don't think i got it in all the way cuz q101 was a little fuzzy this morning. I have to open up the dash again anyway because i need to remove the "remote" lead i had hooked up to my metra harness anyways.

I took some more video last night of what I had done, I still plan on taking more, so stay tuned for another video later on.

Ok that's all i can think of right now. until next time.

Did you use the supplied from the polk components to connect the sub to the crossover? Hopefully I can leave my crossover reachable in the door like you did.

Use 12dB slopes at those crossover points, you will be fine. Maybe bring the front speakers up to 100Hz high pass since they are free air in the doors. I put the gain **** for my subwoofer amplifier under the steering wheel.

Breaking in? Screw that, let it rip!

The tweeter had its own soldered wires on it, so that goes directly to the crossover in my doors. then the 5.25" woofer in the front doors i used my own 16awg wire to connect it to the crossover, and then the input to the crossover is 16awg from the amp. the polk stuff came with its own wires for everything but it was small 20awg or something.

Good to hear it’s tuning time. The JL remote does fit nicely on the opposite side of the cigar lighter to the right of the USB. Since they don’t tend to supply a bracket.
If you really think you’ll need quick disconnect for the speakers, terminal strips from Radio Shack would work well. Or a mini telescoping mirror to see.

Yes tuning time is good time.

I played around with the settings again last night. Got my fronts sent on 80hz. rears set on 200hz, sub on 80hz. I like the way it sounds all around. I listened to several types of music. Rap, pop, acoustic, rock, metal. all of it sounds great. and does not distort when turning up the volume.

I still have the gain set really low on my sub for right now cuz i didnt check the voltage on it with my multimeter cuz i wasnt in my garage. but ill do that tonight. It will probably sound even better once i get my gain set right on the sub!

and in regards to my non-working sirius. I have ordered a new cable. and will try that first before i go to the dealer.....only cost me $7 shipped for the cable. So we will see. its a "fakra" connection. very common for satellite radio.

im gonna try to take more video again tonight, and then put it together. no promises tho. its friday! 5:00 is gonna come quick. and im gonna need a beer. or 3

Stereo installation can be challangeing but when its done tuned and you kick back and listen to your favorite band playing your favorite song.. Its worth it. Yay for completion...
