Default Satellite on factory stereo reception sucks now

I got my truck last year and never had any issues with the satellite except it would update it seemed like every week. As of late (since December) it seems that the reception has gone to crap. I called sirius and they resent the activation signal and verified that there was no outages in my area (DFW). It seems to give me "no signal" on the regular and its to the point that if I get reception now it's a surprise.

Was curious if there is something that I could check on my truck that could've led to my signal going to crap? The antenna on top of the truck doesn't look to have any damage on it. Didn't really want to replace the factory stereo as I like having the indash 6 disk changer and didn't want to pay extra to get the satellite kit with an aftermarket stereo and not to mention the wiring harness needed to keep the controls on the steering wheel but it is looking more and more like I may have to.

Any help would be appreciated.

What year is your truck? Before 2010-11 the sirius unit was separate from the radio and can be replaced

Since you have the exterior antenna ......

Wife has an 05 Aviator w/ dealer installed add on Sirius to the OEM Nav head unit setup and reception went south on it. Replaced the mag mount antenna because it showed signs of water in it, once I popped the antenna off the roof and looked at the bottom of it. Reception 1000% better now. Just a thought.

Antenna was pretty cheap, just had to ensure I got the plug adapter for it also (also very cheap) so it can use the new style connectors in the OEM Sirius box w/ old style connection. (Old OEM style connector antenna is near impossible to find at a good price).

Got a million "good hubby points" for fixing it. LOL

Try a new antenna first. Then a different Sirius unit.

Do those factory antennas twist/unscrew off or are they magnetic like the aftermarket antenna?

Pretty sure they aren't magnetic. They are perm mount. If you get one you could try it at the radio and get enough signal. My aftermarket antenna is laying on the dash and gets full signal
