Default Recommendations: Kicker Hideaway or ???

From what I’ve been able to research here this morning, the Kicker Hideaway route may be the way to go for ease of install/setup and cost.

For or those who’ve done it, is there a better option? Browsing Amazon I see;
Kicker Hideaway -
Amazon Amazon

Rockford Fosgate -
Amazon Amazon

Kenwood -

Plenty of options -

Just want some insight/opinions before I make a purchase. Also, any harnesses/extras I would need to make it work?

I install Cerwin Vega VPAS 10 powered sub. Sounds great.

Anything extra I need to purchase to get it installed and functioning?

A few days ago, I bought one from Best Buy and had them install it for $350. It seems like a decent powered subwoofer, but I think my standard factory head unit is limiting the bass on it. I believe it could sound a lot better. I was told the rear speakers could have a high pass crossover that could be limiting the bass. Tomorrow, I'm going back to Best Buy to have them tap into the front speakers instead of the rear speakers to see if that helps. The nice thing about the Hideaway is that it comes with everything you need for installation, plus it has Lo and Hi level inputs to accommodate all factory and aftermarket head units.

Thanks for the info, I am adding an aftermarket headunit as soon as my dash kit arrives.

You will need to get power and signal to the unit. 8ga power wire is enough for this sub. If you stay stock HU you will need to tap speakers and go low level input using a LOC and RCA cables, or go hi level input and run speaker wires from tap to sub. If the sub does not have auto sensing input to power on, you will need to run a single wire from the fuse box for remote power on.

If changing HU just need to run remote power on, RCA cables for input and power wire.

I thought this unit tapped into the wiring/harness already in the pillar behind rear door? This is main reason I asked/posted so I know what to expect if I purchase.

The OEM Kicker Ford Sub will plug into the existing sub harness, but you need ForScan or the dealership to enable the output. The Kicker Hideway is a generic sub, so it won't be plug and play, but you can make your own harness and use the factory connector if you choose.

I do have Forscan... but running the rca/wiring isn’t to much to do.

Leaning towards the Cerwin Vega since it’s a 12” and the hideaway is 8”. Any other brands to consider?
