yeah could be,I would go into system info screen and look, I bought 8000nex refurbed unit from Sonicelextronics.com and it had 1.01 FW on it, also the GPS does it speed from satellites, but pioneer said by having the pink wire(speed wire )hooked up on the Pioneer will give you more precise location reading, also where did they put your antenna for 8000nex? I have mine in the center of the dash right close to the defrost vent. Also only way to get a speed wire from out trucks is to use the Maestro RR, and there is no real VSS wire on our trucks there is the 4 wheel speed senors but they are the wrong type of output that wouldn`t work for the pioneer.

When i connect the Sirius ill move the GPS antenna see if that helps, its in the dash behind the radio i believe. The speed sensor i think is hooked up it shows how fast im going on the 8000 and tells me if im over the speed limit to the T

the speed your seeing is probably from the signal of the Gps, the only way to know for sure that the speed wire is hooked up is to go to System information screen on the 8000NEX then click on the 3d calibration info and look at the SPEED PULSE COUNTER, if that`s counting up then you know its wired, being if your antenna doesn`t have clear view to the sky that could be the issue, and also if your truck is the 2014 mine is 2011 and from the electrical shop manual I have, there is not true VSS wire on these newer trucks, only way to get he speed signal wire is to have the Maestro rr installed.

Dunno if it's counting it is showing miles etc going up, and the white bars around the truck symbol light up as I move, so I'm assuming that's working.... Sirius goes in Saturday so hopefully idatalink will be there working fully and get rid of the DVD symbol on my oem display.

hey I have question for you.... I have used the Meastro RR before On kenwoods and I `m switching to the 8000NEX hoping to install tomorrow, Kenwoods never had the car speed input wire, did you wire this up? I figured maybe the 8000nex wouldn`t need it since it would get from the RR, I private message to 12Volt guy and I will see what he says(have not heard back yet), I wasn`t sure if you have gotten that far yet. thanks

from what pioneer says it makes the Navigation more accurate, I don`t have the issue your having with my Refurbed unit I bought from Sonic electronics
