Just a heads up to everyone, I received an email from a nice fella at Kenwood Canada who let me know the 890HD firmware has a V1.70 update will be coming along very soon. Along with a link to a early release to the software he also let me know some changes.
Improvements include:
Navigation - Corrected possible white screen on Navi setup screen
Navigation - Improved performance and stability
Bluetooth - Improved phone device Pairing
Bluetooth - Improved no Caller ID displayed with some phone carriers
Bluetooth - Improved performance and stability
He never said when it is actually being released but, I did install it yesterday, with absolutely no issues, and for the most part all my user settings were all still set up, with the exception of my Audio and EQ settings. But that is minor.
Later on today if anyone here is interested I can upload to a dropbox location for y'all.

I'm interested in this new firmware update as well (wouldn't mind having the navigation back but if it never happens oh well...the portable Garmin I'm using looks better and is faster anyway) but I'll wait until Kenwood releases the final version.
I do have a question for 12V Guy though. I would like to reprogram my Maestro unit (just change the function of some of my steering wheel controls), is it necessary to pull the Maestro out to hook it up to my PC, or would I be able to just take my laptop out to my truck and plug into it in place to reprogram it?

Oh and one other question for 12V Guy...
While I do have a PC, I would much rather just not have to deal with the thing. Is there any chance you guys could entertain making it possible to program the Maestro using a Mac?

Sorry for the delay guys, I have been away working up in the north of Canada. Here is the dropbox location link I was sent. I had no issues with the install, and everything seems great with the update. If this link doesnt work I can try another cloud site, this was the direct link from Kenwoods email.

You have to disconnect Maestro from power to reflash it. We can't access the bootloader if the product is running normally. So, you can do it in the car, but you still need access to the RR to unplug everything. At that point, you might as well take it in the house so you can enjoy your beer while programming it.

Our plugin can't work in mac because of the security constraints. You can run windows on your mac though and make it work fine. (Virtual box, parallels, VMware, etc.).

Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated.
One more question though. Is there any way to get rid of the pop-ups that say my iPhone phone is connected and then the next one that says 911 assist is enabled?

So, I just installed the dnx890hd and maestro unit in my 2013 stx. One thing ive been noticing is that the secondary display (above the radio) seems to be displaying info incorrectly. For example, while im listening to siriusxm, it will show the correct song title but it will show the incorrect station number (stuck on xm1). Also, it refuses to show song data on the secondary display while im listening to my ipod connected to sync through usb. This happens maybe on 75% of the songs i listen to (the correct data is displayed on the 890. Finally, sometimes the secondary display will just go blank.
Any thoughts on this? Possible firmware bug with the maestro unit?
