My latest creation...
So this isn't completely relevant to this thread but I thought my audio buddies here would appreciate it.
Spent the weekend working on this because we were going to float the river Sunday. Needed some music so this was my project.
Started with a 48 quart Coleman ice chest from Academy. Didn't really take any progress pics but here is the finale.
Went with two JBL Power components and two coax speakers. Running on a Sony four channel amp. The best part - Sony head unit has built in Bluetooth so once the music starts I close the lid and never touch the unit. I can control the tracks and the volume from my iPod.
Built a carpeted mdf platform to hold the crossovers and stereo. Wanted a nice clean look. Put the toggle switch there too for easy on and off. The toggle turns the amp and stereo off/on.
Nice slim automotive battery. Ran it Sunday for six hours and it's currently at about 60% charge. I was amazed.
Sony amp. In the corner you can see the 12v computer fan I added. Sucks all that hot air right out and even on the river in Louisiana it never ran hot.
12v outlet in case I need to charge something. Why not?
Only thing that failed me on the maiden voyage was a handle. Just popped with the weight. It's light enough to carry alone but a buddy grabbed one handle and he should've grabbed both. Kind of glad though because it forced me to sturdy it up. Added the rope handles with PVC and this thing is solid.
Thanks for looking. Taking it to the beach this weekend. I'm gonna love this thing.

I've mad a few difference styles of these... I usually take those cheap speaker boxes you can buy and add a cdplayer to them and a motorcycle battery and a trickel charger. And antenna

Thanks guys.
Yeah I may add an antenna later but other than maybe catching a ball game I have no need for it. I have a NAPA charger but it isn't very portable - I have a plan for this. Honestly though I think I can get 10+ hours out of it. I will know more this weekend.

I have a deep cell marine battery... It's an more exspensive one. But any type of marine battery would probably net you a longer run time.
