Kicker 11HS8

Well after all these glowing reviews I purchased on from Amazon last week and did a quick install in my new 2017 Raptor Crew Cab and was a bit underwhelmed with the sound. I was not expecting miracles but with my truck being a base model with no factory sub woofer I was expecting more than a slightly noticeable difference. I played with all the setting and in order for me to actually here the sub doing anything the gain needed to be practically at 3/4's of the way up. I then did a quick and dirty install of the setup I just removed from my Sierra which was a Alpine Mono amp Feeding 300 watts to a JL 6.5" Microsub which was 5 times louder then the Kicker.

The issue I'm running into with my Hideaway is that when the "fade" on the truck is set to dead center, I can hardly hear any sub. I have to move the fade to either the left or the right side of the truck to get any sub - and the further i move it, the more sub I get. Thoughts?

Ok, so I got the truck in May and I am still learning all the bells and whistles. It has the Hideaway, I was not aware of the remote bass control. I can see it plugged in on the amp. For a SCREW, what is the most common mounting place for the remote control?

I am about to order two of these off of Amazon for my 17 SCREW. For anyone that is already running two, is there a way to control both units with one external bass ****? It looks like a standard headphone splitter (female to two males) would theoretically work. I really don't want two bass *****.....
Also, for the power, should I run two separate power cables, or would one 8 gauge split for the two be enough? Or one 4 gauge split for the two? The power lines in for on the plug are pretty small gauged wire.
I plan to grab the input from the pillars, so i will have to run a line from each side to each unit, I guess?
I am obviously not an audio specialist. Plenty confident to install these, i just want to make sure I do it right.
Certified refurbished for 149.99 apiece:
$300 for two tens seems really reasonable.

I called Kicker regarding controlling both Hideaways with one ****, their tech support said it isn't possible. with the headphone jack style controls, but would be with their amps that i have the rj11 type connector.
I picked both my subs up used from eBay for pretty cheap. At $150/ea, I would probably do a separate amp/sub setup.

The install was super simple as well, thanks to another thread on here about the no door removal install on his 2015. It took me about 45 minutes to do the install and that was taking my time. I would HIGHLY recommend this little unit to anyone wanting to add some low end to their factory system.
Edit: NVM, found the 'no door removal' thread a few posts down. Homer moment....
