Kicker 11HS8

I messed with the gain on the sub while the remote was plugged in and didn't notice any difference so I think the remote does actually bypass that completely. It's funny...my 7 yr old, on the way to school this morning, said his "butt was vibrating!!" My kids don't know I added the sub! Haha

Has anyone else messed with the Gain on the unit while the Bass Control **** has been plugged in to see if it made a difference in output?
I agree about the 180 and 0 settings and the sound they produce. The 180 was really loud and boomy to me sitting in the front seat. It felt really loose....and almost like it was a half second behind on tracks when the bass or kick should be hitting. I definitely like the 0 phase setting as it seems more tight and punchy and doesn't have so much "boom" to it. I have an 8 year old riding in the backseat of my truck most of the time and she has been loving it the last 2 days on her Kidz Bop tracks on Amazon Prime Music, lol.

We'll see how my girls (13 & 9) hear the difference in the back seat. Before, at 180, when I'd pickup my 13yo's friends, she would tell me to turn on Miss Independent and turn the bass all the way up so her and her friends could basically bounce off the seats!

Also something I noticed, with phase at 0 and xover at about 2 o'clock, sounds almost the same as phase at 180 and xover at about 10 o'clock.
So still toying with it until eventually I'll get it to a happy medium that I like. I'll hear a few songs and think I have it dialed in just the way I like it, then some other song will come on and sound way off. I know different styles of music will be different, so still looking for that happy place in the middle.
Red Red Wine sounds good on just about any setting...

Yeah, I just set the gain **** on the unit at MAX.....just to be safe, ya know, lol.
I put my phase back at 180 and set the Crossover at 11:00. I am pretty satisfied with that and think I am just going to leave it there.
Where did you mount, place, your unit at TerryH22? I have mine sitting behind the passenger side jump seat because its kinda tight if you try to fold that seat up. I have a 2014 Screw mind you, so I don't have as much space behind the rear seats as the 2015's & 16's do. I am still thinking about adding a second one behind the drivers side, but I will end up having to trim out a section of the carpet on the back wall. I don't want to lose the option of folding the large seat up and having storage space in the floor. It honestly doesn't happen much, but when I do it seems like I only end up using the large side of the back seat. My daughter usually sits back there and she still has to have somewhere to sit, so the small jump seat works perfect for her. I sat over in the passenger seat yesterday for a while while my daughter was at dance and it definitely sounds "fuller" over in the passenger seat with the Hideaway being directly behind you as opposed to being in the drivers seat and hearing it out of what seems like your right ear only with a little bleed coming into the left. That could have been why I felt like it was a half second behind at first, cause after putting it back to 180 I don't seem to notice the lag anymore. Another thought I had was to try to move the one in the back to the middle where I would definitely have to cut out a section of carpet, and then maybe install a second Hideaway inside the bottom of the center console. I really would be interested in hearing/feeling how that would be in the truck for those in the front. I imagine it would probably sound pretty killer, but I would worry about it overheating since that center console it basically sealed completely. I wish I could find someone who had made that move and see what their experience was.

I put mine in the middle behind the rear seat. Don't know if it even makes a difference since they say if you have it set up right, you should be able to hear and feel the bass, but not tell where it is coming from.
Never heard of anyone putting a sub in a console, like I mentioned above, the way low frequencies work, it doesn't necessarily matter where you put the sub since the sound waves are non-directional, as opposed to tweeters that are very directional and that's why they are usually aimed at the driver/passenger from the A-piller.
But I know what you mean by it sounding fuller in the back, maybe that is just because we're feeling the vibrations more.
Also, do you have your HU set for Driver Only, or All Passengers?

I understand what your saying about the low frequencies filling up space and not being directional, but I can still tell where the sound is originating from. I've been a lighting and sound tech in the music industry for the last 4 years or so, but have always been into sound reinforcement since I was in my teens. Having it off fully to one side still throws me a off just a bit in my head. I am going to see what I can do this weekend about getting it moved over to the center though, just for my own sanity's sake! lol...

I had to put it on the passenger side. I have the Sony system and the sub (if you can call it that) goes across the drivers side to the center. I guess it could be removed but I just left it in case I sell the truck at some point.

Yeah, I wish I could have put mine in the center, but there is a molded protrusion that sticks out that make it dang near impossible for me to put mine there. It looks like that have moved that up a bit on the 15's/16's as it looks like your Hideaway sits right under where its at. I am not even sure whats behind that protrusion cause I didn't remove the carpet to look. I am going to give it a look this weekend to see what exactly is behind there. If there is some way for me to get it moved to the center, I am definitely going to try that route for a bit.

I am talking about the one that is on the left hand side of his unit. Its just above the left hand edge of his Hideaway. I see where the seatbelt retractor is and its well above the unit. That's not the protrusion I am referring to though. In the 2014's, the protrusion that looks like its right next to the edge of the jumpseat, is smack dead in the middle of the back wall. It's not offset and looks to sit lower. If it was just 2 inches higher in my 2014, I could center my sub.
