Let me ask you this, can your tab do this: (my idea of a fluid head unit)
-my daughter in the back watching a dvd on the headrest monitors, while having full control and sound of it
Actully yes it can do this with android mirror and still costs less
*Where does the dvd go? What remote does she use? How do you split audio and video feeds, I want separate control not mirrored control... OWNED
-while I listen to music in the front
Yes you can still listen to Sirius the way mine is set
*That the best you got, not any input you want... OWNED
-while Navigation System is giving me the way
Yep see above.
*Sure a $50 phone does that nowadays, Navi/Front Audio on front screen, DVD Playing in rear screens, nope... OWNED
-if someone calls I can see and answer it hands free
Yep sync does that Actully I can do viedos calls
*Sync, talk about horrable sound qualty and function, a Pinto has that... OWNED
*whats the webcam pointed at?? the middle back seat?
-if someone texts I can see and respond hands free
Yep see android mirror
*See above
-my rear camera is split screen watching my trailer
nope only down fall but with the mirror camera I have not a problem
* Self OWNED
-all with superb, sound quality and processing
With all the money saved install a Cleansweep and have even better sound
*Now your spending another $200+ to try to make soso quality sound good... OWNED
all this going on at the same time, controlled from one unit, and that's just a small example of how I use it, and thats not even a fraction of its potential. As far as games if I needed, I'll put a xbox on it and play real games.
So in your terms ...Big bold voice is that the best you can come up with ! LOL
*No dude you got me all wrong, I'm not ******* your opinion, but when you call someone stupid for buying something that fits there lifestyle and works great, you just asking to be corrected
See responses above. Your not up to date on the capability of android i guess.
Im sorry I think its WAY over priced its just an opinion you don't have to get your panties in a wad
*but its a thong
...and thats MSRP the DNX9990HD was $1599 msrp I bought mine for $1000
Say what you will but our local high end audio installer clearly said the future is tablet installs he was excited to go to CES because there is a ton of stuff coming out to help integrate tablets more easily. He sells kenwood and Maestro units and even he thinks they are overpriced.

I am a high end installer, I know android and ios front to back. I would love to see tabs take over, but like you said they're the future not the present. Future means more development needed. You and you local installer should take some coding classes, and build a Automotive Android ROM thats "fluid" (keyword, not a bunch of jerryrigging and app workarounds). In the future someone will do it and that will be great. As of now the Present, this is the best all around Fluid media control center you can have, and guess what?????? It drops inplace in about 15min, it works fluidly, and controls everything you could need. No apps, no hacks, no molding the dash, no extra parts to get it to maybe sound good, Not relying on sync or my phone, and in 2014 when a new awesome one comes out, another 15 min and its switched out again. When that tab is dated how long will it take you to swap out???

DVDs are just like your old car anolagys thing of the past
As you would say self owned hahahah!!
And how is having a factory backup camera in the mirror and not needing another one owned?
Never once call you stupid said kenwood is stupid! For their price point it's a little high
And switching my tablet would take 15 mins
Glad you like the head unit I will save my money for other things

lol.. had a feeling that would come up... the answer "KIDS". I keep most of their stuff ripped on a SD card in the headunit. there are the times when they want a specific movie at the last minute (no room for 3TB of movies in the truck), and I can just grab the dvd on the way out. Trust me, if a VHS tape deck kept them quiet , I'd have one in there.
you mean that giant 2.5" video screen in the mirror, I'll stay with 7", actually I have both.

And you said earlier where is their remote ? If your handing the remote to a $1500 DVD head unit to a 1 and two year old you just owned yourself. As a 1-2 year old likely does not know how to use it and 2 they are small an choking hazards *not smart* (but u used this as a point to "own"me?? Really?)

The headunit isnt just a toy for me I use it heavily, so it need to work fluidly, and my not so tech savvy wife can use it too.

Dude I'm with you, I'd love a 10.1 tab in my dash, Ive looked in to it, thought about it, its right up my ally. Like I said the fluid control and function just isnt there yet for me. Big beautiful screen, yes. Mediocre sound and lack of inputs, outputs and headunit functions, yes also. The potential is there, just the software is not. Not yet.

Clean sweep can help the sound though.
Like I said for ME that's just steep price wise.
Peace out!!
