Fast Rings vs InstallBay
Hi Everyone,
I thought it would be a good idea to talk about the differences between the two brands so you can make an informed decision when purchasing either. Both are priced the same so it boils down to which you prefer to work with. Here are some observations of the two.
Fast Rings
Made of foam
Not water repellant
Rear foam is flat
Foam might need trimming
Foam sealed
InstallBay
Made from silicone
Water repellant
Rear foam is wave formed to break up backfiring waves
Folding ring no trimming needed
Silicone seal
I think you can see which ones I prefer to use. I sell both items and both have the same tiny margins so there is no bias in that regards. The InstallBay rings are just so much better. If you are not familiar with the company, their parent company is Metra.

Do you have a link to them? All I find on a search is either mdf rings or baskets.
i may be inticed into taking the door apart one more time to replace my rings as I think they are folding over during install.

Those look pretty nice and sturdy. I can see why you like them over fast rings.

They are much more sturdy than the foam rings and repel water so much better. There's a better chance at protecting your speakers when the truck gets wet. A lot of moisture gets into the doors for some reason.

Bruce, I need a set of the installbay's 6.5" too. Send them when you send the DSP.3. Just let me know how much I owe you.
