Now all that's left is some static that most people could probably live with.

To recap: Upgrading amp and speakers revealed alternator whine, static, and no crap, a radio station faintly playing in the background.

Installed sub and amp and regrounded to frame with no resolution.

Upgraded head unit and used PAC dash kit. Radio station went away, but now there was a raised floor noise when a USB device was attached.

Replaced head unit under warranty with no luck.

Found a loose factory ground terminal. That fixed the USB noise, but didn't take care of the alternator whine and static.

Pulled sub amp fuse and alternator whine went away. Replaced amp.

All that's left is some liveable hiss sound. But since I've went this far I might as well try to stamp it out as well. Upgrading power wires next.

This was supposed to an easy, one weekend upgrade. The only easy part was actually swapping dash parts into the PAC kit. I had originally thought this would be the worse bit. lol
They always start out easy. To my understanding floor noise exists in the best systems but is mostly inaudible.

I went through all the cab/truck ground points and they were all good. I can't remember my ground readings but I did go through them with a DMM. I should probably try them again.

By your description I think our hiss is the same and livable as you said.

Could be our hearing is just better than the average.

It is the low quality HU that Ford uses. Just like a cheap home stereo you can here the hiss when the volume is down.

I don't have the static problem, but do have the faint radio sound issue in my 2017 F-150 amp/subwoofer when truck is off. Concerned it might run down the battery over time, but not inclined to troubleshoot it beyond checking the grounds.

Had to bump this thread for reference since it’s very similar to what I’m getting with the kicker key install.
I will check the ground lug at the fuse panel today.

Same story here, slight FM signal hiss bleeding through the factory radio, then becoming amplified by the additional inline amplifier.
Unplugging the orange Antenna wire makes a difference.

I honestly do think it’s just inherent noise from the factory radio that’s being amplified by the new inline amplifier.
My hiss is very faint and tolerable.
