so is it a radar jammer, and a lazer jamer? or what? i get its a detector

Triton v8 09-27-2008 09:39 AM

Awesome Tungston!!! Nice custom install too!!

2001stu 09-29-2008 12:50 AM

thats awesome... where did you get that radar detector? I've always said I thought some one should take one apart and place different parts in differant areas for concealment... Little did I know they already do that.

TungstonTiller 09-29-2008 02:41 PM

Thanks for the kind words.

2001stu,
This one was slightly used by the person who sold Beltronics equipment. These have been around for some time. Actually, there are 3 better/newer models out than this one. However, this one best fit my price range and needs.
The newest one is GPS based, and has a "learning" cpu, to assist in filtering out bad alerts, based on location, from the GPS. It's freak'n awesome, but its 2k.

The overall install is still about 8/10 on my scale. But it works for me, for now. Excited to finally have some stuff installed after day dreaming it up.

I hope it's not a radar jammer, those are a HUGE no no.

TungstonTiller 09-30-2008 11:50 AM

All,
Thanks for the props.

Tide,
Of course its not a jammer. After all they're illegal. But that would be a good reason for a stealth install.

LovetheTide 09-30-2008 05:48 PM

Laser jammers aren't illegal, well in most states, but the radar jammers are I believe a felony?

blackbetty 09-30-2008 05:53 PM

a car cant produce enough power to oppereate a good lazer jammer...

and radar jammers are illegal...and even dectors in some states, just not sure how illegal jammers are

TungstonTiller 09-30-2008 08:39 PM

I'm glad I didn't buy a jammer, because detectors are legal in my state. The concealment is for traveling in states that detectors are prohibited.

For those of you that are skeptical about jammer/blockers might want to read http://www.guysoflidar.com/.

All the best,

broncrog,
I was standing in my local car audio shop's sound room when I noticed they had a blank spot for a head unit, with a USB port. They could input music & I-pod adapters on it. Thats when I noticed that adapter, or holder behind it.

So I asked for one. I is hot glued to where the aux. input use to be. The opening was dremeled out, to fit the end of the usb plug. The adapter, or holder, is mounted on the under side, with hot glue.

In conclusion, I would stop by your local car audio & check out their sound room.

Thanks man, I'll give it a shot.

broncrog 10-30-2008 09:42 PM

Just to be clear, my Kenwood has the USB port all ready on it. So, now all I need to do is make it fit in the stock adapter. Hot glue is what you used? It's holding? It really looks good bro.

broncrog,
Yes, my Kenwood has the USB port also. My set-up goes, Kenwood USB, to 3ft USB extension, to USB Holder (Hot glued to trimmed aux input).
NOTE: The USB cable itself is not hot glued, the "holder" is hot glued.

Thanks for the compliment.

Great, now.. Where did you hook the "reverse" wire from the new unit? I believe it's purple and white.

broncrog,

I believe so, however my installer did the wiring.
Maybe TritonV8 could way in here, he did his own install!

Looks Awesome! Can you please tell me where you purchased the USB mounting plate that you installed where the standard LINE IN port is?

Really appreciate it!
