Thats a good looking stereo!! Where did you get the dash cover for it? How did you get the Ford splash screen on there? Also has anyone that has the GPS had to update the maps yet? I am wondering what all is involved with that and what kind of cost were talking about there. I have heard that the Panasonic cost around 300 to update maps and they have to pull the thing out to do it!!

 

The dash kit is a schorche kit and Looked on youtube to find out how to get the ford logo on start up, then went to the kenwood forum and foound the splash screen. All pretty easy.

I do not have the navi hooked up yet but the module will go in behind my glove box and wire to the HU, then to do updates there is a card slot on the gps module. You can get the updates for about $100. Last time I was at best buy I saw they are selling life time upgrades for a little over a $100.

 

Does this play MP3's from a DVD? I also noticed that since this is last years model I can only find refurbed units....

Another thing, I noticed in your pics you lost the info on the small screen, i.e. temp, compass etc...

 

Yes it will play Mp3's burned to DVD or cd. I have seen them new in box on ebay and sonic electronics. I picked mine up at BB as they were getting rid of them for a song because the new ones were coming in.

I did'nt have the compass or temp as an option, the only thing it displayed was the song info. I can't say it would retain the temp and compass but it may as they are on a different system than the radio display.

The sound quality alone is worth it but all the other functions are just icing on the cake. If you have an ipod you can load movies onto that and play them VS having to have disc media with you all the time.

 

How fid you accomplish getting the startup screen changed?

 

On my Kenwood HU you "play" the image you want to use as the new background and then you go through a bunch of steps to save it as such.

I would expect that Instructions specific to your HU should be in the manual for it.
