Anyways, as it usually happens, I already want more.

After reading this forum until my eyes bled, and looking everywhere else, and taking the shops recommendations, I think I want to add some bass next. Not too much, I do have a 4 year old that sits in the backseat, but when he's not back there, I want a little more boom.

I have a 2011 Super crew if I hadn't mentioned it earlier. Sync/Nav etc

The shop recommended a JL microsub. But I am leaning towards a JL Audio 10W1v2 powered by a JL Audio JX360/2

They quoted me roughly $500 for the microsub installed with a smaller amp, but shopping around I found that setup I mentioned for under $300 shipped. I just need a box for it. I like the idea of just swapping out the Sony stuff and putting the JL stuff in place and not lose any more room. I usually drive with the bigger back seat up and use that area for cargo i bring to and from work.

Any recommendations on a box for this? I saw fox offers a box but no picture for a single sub. Any love for the microsub instead? Is there a benefit to using a different amp and powering the speakers as well, if possible?

Lastly, do I need a pac or cleansweep or something for this setup? I don't even know what they really are, I just saw them in many posts when adding amps. The shop didn't mention this when quoting me, so I wasn't sure if it was necessary.
The PAC FRD24 will work for you and give you outputs for your sub and a turn on wire for your amp

Look into the lc7i by audio control it is what I am going to be installing in my 2014 screw for just the door speakers for now and sub down the road. As far as amps go you can't beat going with a 4ch and a mono block amp however in the I interest of saving space I would look into a good 5ch amp.

You would probably do better by starting your own thread if you haven't already.
The Kicker Soundgate Substage is going to be the easiest way to get what you want. It's pretty much plug and play and would replace your current Sony sub.

See this thread for more info:

Man what a difference in clarity new speakers make.

After talking to the shop owner again about a sub/amp setup, I am going back Tuesday and I am having them install the JL Audio 8w3v3 microsub powered by a Alpine MRV-M500 amp with a bass control ****. Installed, everything is going to cost $600.

I'm not going to amp the door speakers, at least not right now. I think a little boom in the back coupled with these speakers will be plenty for me.

What started as a simple speaker swap turned into an overhaul pretty quickly.

Is the Sony amp and sub worth anything at all or do you just tuck it into a dark corner of the basement and forget about it?

Put the sub in the for sale section

Had my Amp and Sub installed today. Haven't really had a chance to mess with it yet, definitely needs to be tuned, but the microsub hits pretty damn hard with everything on the amp and head unit cranked. Had to turn down the HU bass to -1 actually. I had the amp mounted under the passenger seat, and the remote bass **** mounted inside the useless cubby hole next to the steering wheel. I finally have a use for it. Only downside is it just looks like a box jammed under the seat. Not as clean as id like, but its fine.

How is the sub mounted? And do you think there is enough room to mount feet to the box and make it downtime?

Right now the sub is literally just sitting there. I will eventually figure something out, to make it secure, but haven't had time yet. I need to trim the floor mat as well.

I don't think you could put legs on it unless they were the same depth as the grill of the sub. Its pretty tight to the bottom of the seat. I was considering the same thing. Id prefer it facing down as well.
