Confused about the 2 letters

I was poking around the internet today and landed on LKQ's website. I noticed the prices for the screens and radios have dropped quite a bit so I was thinking it might be time to upgrade from the 8" to the 12" screen.
While searching around I noticed the descriptions stated "For BD thru BG" or what have you. It would be cool to go to the HD units, but I don't know how to make the BD AH BG or others work for me. Do they matter, can I pick whatever I want and have it work? TYA!

the BD-BG is the suffix on the engineering ID number which is found on the part,
they all require programming to the truck but im not sure if they will work in your truck, the plugs might be different
