I placed it right next to the battery and just took the amp power wire off the battery and hooked it to one side of the relay, and other side to the battery.

The relay has two smaller connections, one for a ground and one for your 12v trigger. there is a ground on the fender I used, the trigger I tapped fuse 21 inside the truck then used the small grommet on the passenger side to run the wire to the relay.

This was not easy but took 20 minutes to run that wire, hard to get your hand to it from the inside, but basically I pushed the grommet from the engine bay to the inside then drilled a hole ran the wire through it and installed it in reverse. (Grommet is now on the engine side) It's a 16ga wire just looks big with split loom and cloth tape on it.

I suppose I should say this was done for a alpine amp and not using the power from the sub plug.
