hey guys, i currently have a alpine 12in type x sub and iv been looking at youtube videos of a 1000W w7. Do you think the W7's are better? would it be worth switching

I have done installs and built boxes for both subs and honestly even the W6 is a better sub than the Type X.

My 13w6V2 in ported box with JL 500/1 was great. So I would say the W7 with the 1000 should pound. I think for what they are the JL's are a pretty good sub.

as far as my professional opinion, i have over 10 years in the car audio industry the type x is a monster made for deep low bass. the w7 is a piece of **** sound quality sub. if you want a very well balanced system that looks pretty the w7 is for you. i dropped that sub from my line just for the fact that i could not get them to handle 1000 watts at all. if your looking into JL you should also check out either Cadence, and Audiopulse. if you want Audiopulse though you would more than likeyl have to go through my boss. he is really the only dealer unless you go through Audiopulse directly

Well I run my W6 on 500 all day. Thought the W7 would handle the 1000.
Bring up my ride in town and most want to know what is in it. May not be perfect but, it does sound great in my ride. Well old ride.

Now in the F -150 not sure what will sound awesome.... My JL was in a SUV.

There are better subs made, so look around and listen to all you can befor you buy.

the type x is a monster....but so is the w7...my buddy has one 12w7 with a jl 500/1 amp and it pounds..both of them are good subs man

type x is more for SQ, but the W7 will have more SPL output while maintaining some SQ

dude you have that reversed. JL audio designed the W7 for the IASCA circuit. whick is the real name for the sound quality competitions. how the hell can you say the Type X is for SQ. from that statement there i can tell you have never heard one installed the right way. and no a box you can buy from a store is not the right way to install any sub.

I think the JL is more SPL than SQ. But I dont think the SQ is all that bad. Just my 2 cents.

SQ is what i build my cars for. i love it. but the JL audio W7 was and is built for SQ. regardless of what the streets say. i am in daily contact with JL through my shop and they have told this to me many many times since it was released
