i have a 2002 ford f150 lariat supercrew 5.4 triton fx4. it had a radio/tape deck that controlled the cd changer in the center console. a vcr under the back seat and a fkip down tv in the roof. also as i started removing the extra audio video i found a radio antenna booster that i think later produced smoke.
so... i've already been through the double din large screen install on another f150 may it rest in peace, and an e250 with the added hassle of software issues in another language.
this is my first truck that came with this many bells and whistles and i'm going with one of the 10" android tablet radios.
so i got it all fitted for the truck and wired in and i loved it, even though its very poorly programmed and most of the important settings are locked, in another language, or you would need a programming degree to navigate.
until i shut the truck off. when i took out the key the radio stayed on like the old one, but when i opened the door it still stayed on, and the windows kept power. the auto down window relay still worked so i switched the relays to see if that went bad. same problem. since then while testing the first unit something smoked and clicked a lot when i turned off the truck and radio was still playing. not sure if it helps but the station playing was in the frequency of the booster i found in the dash. i think the booster is where the smoke came from, not sure about the clicking though. i'm thinking a relay back there went but not sure where to start. there are so many.
please, any help would be appreciated. first time post.

yes i used a harness. i tested to make sure i have constant and key wired right. if i unplug the radio and test the red wire, it looses power as soon as i open the doors with the key out. its not doing this every time and now i notice if i take the key out and open the door, if the radio is still on and i reboot the tablet the red looses power along with the windows. its like the truck knows its still drawing power and leaves it on.

What model Kenwood was that? I used to have the same one and I remember when I got it installed I had to buy some satellite in order to make The navigation work. I recently just bought another Ford F150 super crew 2003 and I’m looking at putting that same Kenwood in it. Thank

sorry, I'm using an Android tablet HU. If you have the money, I'd get a brand name tablet HU. This one is hikity 10.1. Wires are miss labeled and or misrepresented . Between the wiring and the hacked together OS this one is more headache than the savings is worth. I could see it working great in something with no extra features like auto lamps and timed radio delay.

you could be right, but both of mine start to smoke before that can happen. It's like it sends a signal to the delay Relay and keeps it from shutting down. Also windows keep power. The truck was meant to let the kids watch a movie for a while but now it thinks its radio was stolen or something.
