2016 F150 Speakers/HU questions
Hi all,
I have a 2016 F150 XLT Screw with the 7 speaker audio system (Nav + Sync 3, no Sony) and wanted to upgrade my speakers. I ordered Polk db692's for the fronts and Polk db652's for the rear. I just want better sound quality (keeping the stock HU) and for now don't plan on installing an amp or sub. A couple of questions...
I see where folks talk about being able to remove the "built in" EQ which makes up for the deficiencies in the stock speakers with FORScan. Is this only possible when going to the pre-amp outputs or can this be done while still using the stock HU amplifier?
I did not purchase new tweeters - will the tweeters on the db692's work or are the highs filtered out of the front door channels? If so, how can I get the highs to work on them or do I just need to replace the tweeters? If I need to replace them, is there any particular make/model that will still mount like the OEM tweeters? My original thought was that I'd disconnect the center channel and the tweeters (only if the front door channels still get the highs).
I'm not a complete car audio newbie, but it's been awhile since I've done anything with it (the last time I did anything was in ~2006).
I appreciate the help!

You are probably going to find you want to amp it; speakers alone aren't going to do that much for the stock. If you use Forscan to flatten the signal I'm not sure you'll get much sound at all (I am not that familiar with how the stock is wired so someone correct me if wrong). Generally the reason you do that is so you can more easily add your own amp/DSP without having to worry about cleaning the signals up.
For the tweeters best bet is to get components for the front and just run new wires down from the A-pillars though without an amp I am not sure how that would work.
You might want to just try swapping the speakers (including tweeters, use a backstrap or hot glue to install them in the factory location, assuming they fit) and see how that goes without making any Forscan changes. Watch out for your ohm ratings on the speakers because I don't know how hard the stock amp can be worked...my guess is not much. Pretty sure you are going to end up amping these
