I have a 2015 Lariat super crew (Screw) 2.7l Ecoboost with 8" Sync 2 (My FordTouch) 7 speaker that was stock without the Kicker sub. I added the Kicker sub/amp combo (special Kicker package for Ecoboost auto shutoff with only 100w amp instead of 200w amp.) about a year ago, enabled it etc. Its been great! At the same time I replaced the front door speakers with Polk DB+ 6x9 and rear door with Polk DB+ 6.5. I recently discovered that my center speaker wasn't enabled. I also don't think my a-pillar tweeters were firing either. I fixed this with Forscan yesterday. But now I'm not liking the equalizer at all. I'm going to keep trying different EQ settings in Forscan, or trying flipping to the "6 speaker crew cab" and see if its better, or go back to "Kicker/Subwoofer Selection "error"" and no front tweeters, because it sounded a million times better on the low end.

Most importantly though, I want to add an amp for door speakers. I get I need the Parrot FOR-11CK harness. Already ordered. I was thinking about the new Kicker Key.180.4. Its small like the Alpine KTP-445U, but has an EQ built in, and a million features including playing nice with Engine auto shutoff. I'm on the same page for everything with an amp install I believe. Parrot harness, amp can be wired from existing HU power or straight from battery, but I'm just not sure on the Forscan settings when its all done. Did you guys enable Variable Line Level Preamp Outputs from the ACM? Thanks for help in advance guys!

-------------------------------------------------------------
From FORScan Spreadsheet:
Variable Line Level Preamp Outputs From ACM (for adding aftermarket amp without sound clipping)
ACM 727-01-01 xx5A xxxx xxxx See DanMc85's post here for a write-up on this
ACM 727-01-02 00xx xxxx xxxx
APIM 7D0-01-01 2xxx xxxx xxxx <--- this change required only if you have Sony DSP

Default Install

I went with the parrot wiring and audio control LC7i then to amp from there. Had no trouble with equalization from there

As many of us know, the sound on these is super basic. It sucks. So i decided to upgrade the system.

Just to let you guys know, i am not any type of professional in any way shape or form, i am a huge fan of DIY projects but i am limited to doing things in the living room of my apartment. I live in a complex, so i try to do as much as i can inside my apartment and i try to take the things alredy assembled to the vehicle. This is because i dont want strangers to know what i am installing in my truck. So, i know that my drilling isnt straight, and i dont have any fancy tools. Just a drill, some bits, a knife, and a basic socket set from sears.

I am a huge fan of the Alpine components. Their S-Type are budget friendly and sound really good. So, i sprung on a mission to upgrade my stereo system on a low budget. So, this is what i came up with...

MRV-F300 V-Power 4 Channel AMP
MRV-M500 V-Power Mono Amp
Rux-**** Bass Control Remote
SPS-110TW 1" Component Tweeter
SPS-610 6.5" 2-Way Coax Speakers
[snip]
.
FIrst thanks for the detailed writeup! Coincidentally, I also have the Alpine MRV-F300 and -M500 amps currently connected to JL Audio C2 component speakers for the fronts and a JL Audio Sub, but still have the factory rear speakers.

I'm interested in the Alpine SPS-610 6.5" coax speakers for the back, but according to Crutchfield, they won't fit the rear doors of my 2017 F150 Lariat SuperCrew saying they stick out too far by about 1/2 inch. Other websites say they will fit, and so does a pro audio place.

Has anyone installed these in their rear doors, and would they fit ??

Thanks,
Ken

Ken,

I have those speakers in my rear doors. They are not too big. You actually need to buy an adapter to bring them out further to the door and to line up the mounting holes .
I bought the Metra 82-5605 for my truck and installed the Alpine Sps-610 on them with no issues.

As long has you have some 6.5" speaker adapters (look at Metra) they will fit fine. The adaptors are cheap. I had them in my rear doors before I upgraded them to the Alpine R type coax. R type sound sooooo much better. :-)

I really liked the sound of the Alpine R-S65's too, just need an extra 100 bucks (about $170 vs $65 for the SPS-610s). Better bass, but I think I have that covered w/ the other speakers & Sub. Regarding adapters, saw this trick at
, and thinking of trying that Basically, cut out the factory speaker and use that for a mount.

Thanks.

That is an option. I have seen others reuse the factory ones. Just make sure you have the speaker sealed in the mount. Use closed cell weather stripping (low cost at Home Depot) between the mounting adaptor and the door as well as on the back of the speaker surface that mounts to the adaptor.

Also, its a good idea to pick up a set of the Metra speaker wire adaptor plugs. The factory wires are going to get really short really fast. The part number is 72-5602.

Just curious, why add a second amp? Thr install is much easier with a single 5 channel.

Already had 2 other amps, and upgraded 1 at a time. After hearing how much better the Alpine was over the previous one, decided to upgrade both to Alpine. Didn't know the 5 channel was an option at the time. Thx...

And yeah, will probably just go w/ the Metra adaptors.
