Default 2010 XLT Radio/SingleCD/no SYNC lockups

So once in a while multiple times though in say a 500 mile trip my 2010 factory radio/single CD/ No SYNC/ Aux input only no USB radio just locks where it is at and continues to do what it is doing.

So if radio it stays on that station, same volume, keeps playing but none of the controls function.

If playing CD same thing it keeps playing the CD same volume, none of the units controls operate.

Typically it takes a keyswitch off and restart to boot the system back up then it works for a while, once it came out on it's own back to normal while driving.

If no solution if I take a similar unit from a local parts place, what is involved in getting it programmed to my vehicle so it does not think it is stolen?

I would replace it with an aftermarket. You will have better sound and more modern features.

Ok so the radio function kept getting worse most times not able to turn on at all. I replaced and upgraded with aftermarket, now the display that used to be the radio tune dispolay cd status display and clock, now just says Mustang GT the outside temp and compass still work. of course the aftermarket unit has a clock display so no loss there.
