I am looking to replace my non-sony head unit with an aftermarket one. I am doing my research before tearing into it, and was reading something about a factory amp. does anyone know if the non-sony unit has a factory amp somewhere and if so, where it is located? I am looking at a mid-range pioneer unit that has decent output and some 5X7-6X9 polk audio replacement speakers and want to make sure to bypass or remove the factory amp if possible so the speakers and stereo play well together.

also am planning to install the maestro steering wheel module and get a few fancy extras to display on the screen that i currently don't have.

there is no external amp in your system, it is solely powered by the headunit.
