2001 ext cab help
first post here. i just bought a 01 extended cab and i need some help. i am putting my stereo in this weekend. i started today and got blocked. i was trying to find a place to pass my 0 gauge wire through the firewall and could not find anyhole at all. does anyone know of a grommet or other place to get it into the cabin? i would rather not run it underneath the cab then drill a hole in the back if i dont have too. BTW i love this site. i wish i would have found it in the late 90's when i had my 1st gen lightning.

there is a grommet right above the gas pedal, on my friends we just cut a slit in it with a box cutter, taped one end of the wire to a coat hanger and the other end through the hole then just pulled it through

your best bet is to pull off the door sill (the plastic part you step on when you get into the truck) and pop out one of the gromets in there, and then run it under the sill into the back of the truck.
That is how I did mine, and it worked fine.

thanks guys. i ended up gutting the cab last night to sound deaden the floor and found a grommet on the passenger side floor. it was a pain in the *** to get it through but i got it. there is not alot of room behind the dash at all either. i had to remove the driver side bottom of it just to run my RCA cables. but all the major wiring is done. tonight i am gonna mess around with the back seat. i have to remove the bottom on the passenger sideand probably modify the seat back to make room for my box. i decided to run 4 12's instead of the 15's just to make sure i have the correct air space. i am hoping for high 140's though. you beat me to it ty. wire is already water proof to a certain degree. i think he meant so no water got inside. liquid nails worked great to seal the hole up.

if you peel the carpet back on the passenger floor you will see a black grommet. the hole there and the hole on the outside underneath are not lined up perfectly. but i know if i can get my 0 gauge through anything will fit.
