Greetings everyone and Happy New Year! I spent the last 18 months or so deciding whether I wanted to get rid of my Audi for a truck. All I knew was I wanted a Ford. My first car was a 2000 Ranger and that thing was a blast. I really wanted a 1997 7.3 two tone F250/350. They're just too pricey and the vehicle needed to be better on road trips than our 4 door Rubicon. We had a baby last year and it got cramped fast with the dog, kid equipment, etc. So I finally settled on a new two-tone ecoboost Screw lariat with the 6.5 bed. It's a 2019 and we love it. Has the camel interior, which sets it apart. I immediately put on the weathertech trifold cover and bug deflector, both were road-trip must-haves, as well as 5100s in the rear. Seems to have mellowed the back down pretty well. The 6112s arrived while we were away, a few months earlier than shock surplus has estimated. So now I have to find time to knock out that task. Of all the suspension work I've done the f150 seems easy. Just don't want to disrupt the IWE at all, so aside from removing the axle nut and getting the cv safely away and back into the steering knuckle, any tips?? I'm also resolved on replacing the tires with 275/65r20 k02s. Excited to see it when it's done. I've spent weeks reading the "leveled trucks on OEM wheels" thread, so I have a good idea. Still nothing like getting the work done and seeing it for yourself. Anyway, here's the ride - glad to be here.
Another thing I'm working on (and struggling) is finding a switched hot wire under the dash to route my radar detector hardwire to. I've done the same hardwire kit in all my cars and never had so much difficulty as I have with this truck. Sometimes I can use an add-a-circuit from a kickpanel fuse box, sometimes there's a plain hot wire to tap. Is there a subforum I should look to for an answer?
