Hey Guys,
You have boys? Girls?
I have two boys, now 18 and 21. I've be a NYC FF for these last 31 years and had lots of hometime with my boys while my wife worked.
Yeah it's work, but it's not like cutting firewood. It's hard to describe. What happens is, you learn what they need NOW and adapt, then THEY CHANGE and you gotta go with it. Lemme tell ya, IT DON'T STOP! The older guy is 21 and the curve ***** keep coming LOL
Anyway, I taught them to ride bikes, played sports, went shooting, rode dirt bikes, fished, hunted, cub scouts, swimming, boy scouts, take 'em to work, cook dinner, campouts, popcorn movies ...
Not to be cliché, but THEY GROW UP FAST. A million years ago, when I was complaining about another sleepless night, a good buddy(older) of mine said; "Tom, it's over before you know it". Boy was he right.
In a couple months, both my boys will be at college and the house will be empty. It's kinda like the first day they went to school. You put them on the bus then walk inside and the house is empty. Crickets.
My older guy is in college and my younger is leaving in Sept. No more dumbells all over the place, shoes to trip over, empty monster cans . . . SUCKS.

i have 2.5 boys. my 5 year old started tk this past jan. what a difference it makes going to school. conversations have become more comical to say the least. my youngest is 2.5 years old. the .5 is my 3.5 year old godson. i have him some days. change and adapt is a daily thing around here. we have a schedule for school but that is the only simi constant thing. i get frustrated with them at times, but have made sure they know the correction comes with the same love as the hugs. the time does go by fast, defiantly don't feel like i have been home for 4+ years.

I forgot to mention my boys, one is 8 and the other is 10. They do grow up fast!!! My 8 yr old wants to ride his new dirt bike everyday and be outside. My 10 yr old has the same brand new dirt bike and hasn't even put a tank of gas thru it yet 😔. He is way into video games. He and I both started boxing training last yr. He was still 9 and still holds the title for most sit ups over the edge of the ring, 1,374 nonstop sit ups. He beat everyone, even my friend that is 29 and in good shape. Just a little family history for u guys.

I am an IT Asset Manager. I keep track of who is using what computers, ordering of new hardware and disposing of expired. I also do guitar repair and customizing on the side, along with building.
I live in Rochester, NY.
I have 2 daughters, 4 and 2. They are big reason I bought my Supercab. Ranger jump seats just didn't cut it, so I upgraded.

I'm a useless olde guy now!!!
As of 1500, 4/14/17, I'm retired!! For good this time!!
First time, after 29 years from a power company.
This time, after 11 years playing with the big trucks, the last 6, as a heavy haul driver in northern Michigan and Ontario.
I liked doing it,but now it's ME time.
No more getting up at 0315, no more getting out in -30/-40 temps. No more fighting ice/snow for 350 miles a day. No more getting marooned on the wrong side of the Mackinac Bridge due to weather. No more fighting tourists.
I will miss a lot of the things I saw and did each day, and many of the people I got to know in Michigan and Ontario, crossing over the the Soo Locks, and the Mackinac Bridge. And I have to admit, the job really never got old or boring, but it's time to start the next phase.
Here's a photo of my last truck. I picked the tractor up at the dealer 4 years ago, brand new. It had 435k miles on it yesterday when I cleaned it out. The trailer was custom made by Titan, specifically for my job a bit over a year ago.
