I live in Shelton, ct. My co. has two 2010 1 ton E vans and a 2010 Ford F150. Each vehicle new was about $35000.00 These fords have been nothing but a headache. We cannot keep brakes or tires on the vans (each now has about 60,000 miles on them). Alignments cost us about $475.00 each./ The transmission in one of the vans went as have the pinion gears in each. Ford will not do anything to take care of any of the problems once they reached 36000 miles. Transmission cost was about $3400.00 and the pinion gear problem cost $1800.00 in one and $2200.00 in the other. Granted we put 5000 to 6000 miles a year on each.
The latest is the Ford 150 in which the pinion gear just went and it may cost uup to $2200.00 depending on whether or not bearings have to be replaced in the year end.
We also have two 2010 chevrolet 1 ton e vans with about the same mileage on them along with a 2010 Chevrolet pickup and a 2009 Chevrolet 22 ft. rack truck. One of the transmissions went in the Chevy e van at about 60000 miles and Chevrolet covered the repair cost. There were a few other small items on one or the other chevrolets that had over 36000 miles on them and they have covered everything. Just to let you know we have a total of 16 Ford vehicles. When it is replacement time we will never buy another ford. We will buy Chevrolet.
A mechanic explained to me that the Ford e vans even though they are supposedly set up for one ton cannot handle it because they really are not heavy duty and because Ford still has that twin I Beam suspension.
The Chevrolets on the other hand can act;ually handle move than one ton because they really are heavy duty. We are about ready to dispose of the 2010 Fords because of all their problems . The servicemen also love the chevrolets and do not like the fords.
