Default Upgraded!!!!

So, I finally traded in my '01 XLT Sport 2WD SCab with ONLY 130k miles for a '13 XLT 4X4 SCrew...

My old truck was AWESOME. Even with it being 11 years old, EVERYTHING under the hood was still original, except for the battery and the K&N FIPK I installed. I changed the battery 2 years ago (yes, thats 9 yrs on the original battery). There was absolutely NOTHING wrong with the truck mechanically. Cosmetically, that's a different story... A stupid lady slammed on her brakes with NOBODY in front of her, I managed to get a little bump on my front bumber. Also, the paint on the tailgate started peeling off. Believe it or not, when it was windy, it would peel some more, lol. Apparently the primer Ford was using during that time had adhesion issues.

I was actually very sad to let my truck go. It was my first car that I bought & paid for on my own. I've hawled bricks, cement, and flag stone; scoop after scoop of top soil; trailers full of furniture; jet skis; camping equipment; and many friends' crap... Lots of memories with/in that thing

Anyhow, I'm so happy with the new truck. It drives like a high end sedan, with a very, very large turning radius Kids love the SCrew, they don't have to sit with their knees in their throat for the long trips to the river anymore.

I'm a simple guy and opted out of all the fancy electronics. My thought, the more gadgets, the more things that can go bad. But now, I regret not getting at least the backup camera. Oh well, never used it in the past and I still managed to never run into anything. I didn't even want the chrome package but all the XLT's my dealer stocked (all 100+ of them) had the chrome package. Now that I have it, it looks awesome with the Grey.

All I plan on doing is leveling the front, spraying the bed, and adding a tonneau. I had a K&N Intake and Flowmaster on my old truck but they ripped by torque when towing so I'll opt out of them this time around. Maybe I'll just get the OEM replacement K&N air filter.

I love this site, it has saved me $$$$$ fixing my truck as well as my wife's Expedition. I owe everyone on here a beer...

Leaving it behind at the dealer...

Congrats! Both are great looking trucks! However, the new one looks gorgeous. My neighbor and I both bought XLT crewcabs with the EcoBoost at the same time, mine being black and his being grey. We also both got our windows tinted. I love a black truck, especially when clean, but there's not a time I don't drive by his truck and second guess myself. Something about that grey on a crew cab with the chrome package is perfect IMO.

Hope you enjoy her in good health! Can't wait to see the mods. Funny you didn't get a back up sensor, I couldn't find a truck without the XLT Plus package. Don't ask me if I've backed up into a Lincoln Towncar even with my sensors..
