Default Undercoating

Before winter gets here I want to get my F150 undercoated but what I've heard from friends is that it is much easier and cheaper to do it myself. Before I get my hands dirty, any suggestions or tips? Spend the 300 and get done professionally or do it myself for 40? Thanks!

The details of your truck would be most helpful.

It's a 2002 Regular cab stepside FX4, never seen a truck like it before and I want to keep it in good shape for as long as possible. No surface rust, however under it it does have some minor spots of some surface rust. I live in Missouri and I'm surprised it isn't worse.

If you have the supplies and the same grade commercial stuff a dealership/detail will do than sure why not (at $40). However 300 is a steal for an undercoat service at where I live. I coat at approx $500-600. If its your first time just be patient and try to be confident in your strokes.

I do 2 medium coats or 3 light coats. Have had many vehicles from years past that still have the coating on 100%. I find adding it to the wheel-wells did cancel some road debris noise. Goodluck
