Default Tough Decision, need help

Hey guys, this might sound weird but I'm torn between my next car. Currently I am coming up on my last few months on a Nissan Maxima lease. I am pretty much in a leasing black hole due to not having enough cash on hand for a down payment to finance thus leasing is the way to go as of now. I am about working up a rapport with a dealership to start low and build my way up to a better model. My current dilemma is from opposite ends of the spectrum: Do I go the luxury car route and lease an X1 to work my up towards X5 level or got the Ford Ranger and work up to the F150. My main goal is to own the car after the next lease so the Ranger would be a stepping stone. Is the F150 worth owning long term? I like the luxury brands but reliability is not their forte. Also I've read many reviews how nice of a ride the F150 is compared to those luxury SUVs. What do you suggest again opposite sides of the spectrum just looking for advice. Thanks!

buy a used vehicle, and stop the lease merry-go-round
save your money, then buy whatever suits your needs
