Default New member from Montreal - Strange theft

New member from Montreal, bought my 2010 Supercrew to replace a 2002 Explorer to pull my 19' hybrid travel trailer. Had it almost a year, very happy with it. I'm retired after 20 years in industrial air pollution control and 20 years in paper mill drying and ventilation Last Thursday my 2010 Supercrew was stolen from a mall parking lot near a Sears store. It was equipped with a Boomerang/LoJack tracker (at the insistence of my insurance company). I immediately reported to the police and to Boomerang, and while waiting for the police to arrive (they took over an hour) we spoke to the Sears security who checked their cameras and found the truck about 1/4 mile away in a different part of the parking lot! The Boomerang guy arrived as I walked over to the truck. We found that the lock had been punched out of the driver's door, the ignition/steering lock was broken and the thieves had removed the instrument panel. Nothing else was taken not even a portable GPS. I've heard of cars being stolen for air bags and other high cost parts, but who would need a new instrument panel? While I suppose I am lucky that the truck was recovered so quickly. I have had to cancel a week's camping in Cape Cod with my grandchildren, and have a cross Canada trip planned for the middle of next month. I hope the police release the truck from their Tech Centre quickly, and that my local Ford dealer can get it put back together in time.

First welcome to the forum.
That is a strange thing to steal but I'm sure they are expensive to replace.
My 98 was broken into (if you can call it that ) I don't lock the doors because I don't really have anything in it to steal.
They went through everything in the glove box and threw it all over the floor but nothing stolen.
4 fishing poles and tackle box in back along with 2 air conditioners.
I found that kinda odd.
