Powerstroke Packman
Its a sad day but also a good day for me. I am joining because I am finally going to trade in my 6.0L diesel for a new F-150. Its amazing what the new F-150's can pull off with those little engines. They can just about out-compete my big F-350 with a 6.0l turbocharged monster and still get better mpg when not towing.
I joined so I can get the scoop on what to buy. I am looking to buy new and drive whatever f-150 I buy into the grave. I think I may go with a 2018 build to save some money. I am split between the 5.0l and the 3.5l twin turbo. I like the V8 because call it superficial, sounds a lot cooler. My coolness factor with the 6.0L was huge. Driving that sled makes you feel like a god on earth. At least you can hear the 5.0l. I am also wary of twin turbos. Turbos get dirty, they wear out and after 40k or 60k miles they may need service or replacement as THEY WILL WEAR OUT and you will see a drop in performance over time. Having to replace one turbo is enough of a pain. The benefit is by the time I hit 60k there will likely be some badass aftermarket upgrade turbos that I can slap on to get more hp but we all know how a truck can turn into cash sink. I plan on going with the 5.0L. Mileage isn't a huge deal to me, reliability is way more important and I feel like the 5.0 will be just that, more reliable over its life. You can save 3 or 4 mpg but when you need to replace a turbo all of those savings go out the window. Additionally, turbos last long enough that they will die or lose lots of performance probably outside of any warranty.

Welcome to the forum. The 5.0 is a great engine. I've had one in my last 4 F150's including my current 2019. No one bit of problem with any of them and the Borla Touring exhaust sounds great with the 5.0.
