Old school mechanic
Rebuilt a 74 Ford Grand Torino in 1977. A 351 Cleveland, and I left the engine in the car. Fresh out of High school auto mechanics class. A baby on the way and I was lucky the boss let me work in their shed with a door. I never did that again. It is such a bad memory I don't have much recall of this job other than I totaled the car after driving from Houston to Oklahoma, I had less than five hundred miles on the rebuild. Starting a family with no car, rolled that fine car. A great uncle bought the motor and put it on his irrigation pump, still on the farm working the land by spraying water.
SO She passed at the age of forty six and nope I'd learned enough, have not even considered marriage, 64 now and climbing the yearly ladder faster than zero to sixty.
Oh I found a low priced Ford f150 4.6 2v.super crew. What I have been reading seems to be Ford engineering flubs, like the 4 mm headlight adjustment tool that will get locked on the adjustment screw because the clearance is tight on the passenger side. Must be one engineer who works on the right side and another worked on the left.
Yes with the ticking noise sure makes it easy to get the price down. Also has an exhaust manifold leak on the right side. Ordered that today. The cam follower bearing yes not gonna let that slide. One point this truck doesn't rattle like a country truck from around here, Steering hoses, got them too. Wished I had a shop, I've did many shade tree jobs and I hope to one day pour a slab of concrete.
Thanks to all who have shared their workings.
