Just bought my third the third F150 that I've owned in my lifetime, but this one is the newest I've owned. The first was a 1978 rust bucket, the second was a 1989 Regular cab Lariat 4x4 5sp and 5.0 V8. I am know the proud owner of a 1997 SuperCab XL. It's been a few years since I owned a truck, so it's nice to have one again, especially an F150.
I needed something to drive to work and haul my mountain bikes and camping gear to the trail in. This was by far the best deal I had seen. It's nothing fancy, but the AC works, has an iPod connection, and drives real strong. 163,000 miles, V6 Auto, 2WD; ended up costing me $3,300 after tax and title. Feels like it might need some new brake pads and the front suspension makes some creaking noises over large speed bumps, but otherwise everything is tight and quiet. Body is in remarkably good shape with only one major dent on the driver side near the rear of the bed; the rest is a few scratches and such. The interior is in real nice shape except for a cracked climate control/radio surround. I'm the third owner and I have all the maintenance receipts from the second owner, who had it for 6 years.
I'm not looking to modify the truck. Just fix the small problems, maybe get some chrome steel rims and step bars. Other than that, it will probably stay much like it is now. I only have one picture of it right now.
