Newb just checking in
I signed up finally but have been reading on here a lot. I currently have a Ram 1500 2wd, moved to the VA though and am curious if I will need a 4wd. Im going to try the first winter out and see how it goes. I also just *want* an ecoboost lol.
Well, you don't really "need" a 4wd here, but I take my '05 Lariat out in the winter and find stuck people and pull them out (free... don't believe in making money on the misfortune of others). It's certainly helpful to have a transfer case but if you drive with any bit of common sense and maybe some snow tires, you'll be fine.
Maybe now and once the snow starts you can take an EB out for a drive and check out the 2wd and 4wd on it. I think you'll like it more than the Dodge, but obviously I already like Ford. You will notice the suspension is much different, though. Dodge has always had a unique suspension setup. Ford will probably feel stiffer, although Ford still has the strongest frames on the market.

Yea that's kind of what im thinking, my ram has LSD. I cant believe ford is only doing the locker, which is useless in 99% of situations, especially for the "normal" half ton owner. Im sure they had reasons but doesn't seem very smart.
Im still on the stock goodyears, we shall see how that goes. I may need to upgrade.
