Default Newb from CA seeks help

Hey, I joined up to ask a question to help me make a decision on getting a new car pretty soon.

I've been looking at getting a ford truck for a while now, but I haven't been able to decide between the F-150 and the ranger. Right now, I'm leaning towards the F-150, but I wanted to check and see what the general consensus was about this sort of thing. I was hoping someone could give me a rundown of what's really different between the two and if they are any common problems with one or the other that I should know about. Anything you guys could tell me helps out a lot and i appreciate it.

That reminds me, while I'm asking questions. Can anyone recommend a good ford dealer in riverside, CA? I was going to go to racewayford but when I went for a test drive they didn't impress me with their deals much. So I open to suggestions for any dealer but that one.

I had a Ranger before the F150. It was a great truck, butI won't go back to a Ranger, I love the F150 ALOT more.

Never owned a ranger, but have driven alot. I prefer the feel and size of the F150 over the ranger. I could probably get the ranger in places where the F150 won't fit, but I wouldn't give it up for anything.

Prefer the larger cab of the 150, the rangers are like the explorer, tight. Own a 96 explorer and a 02 F150. The other dealership in Riverside is at the 91 and the 10, called "Jose's muy bueno trucko's". You California guys suck. Oh, did I forget to mention, lived in Santa Ana, for 30 years.

I have owned 4 Ranger's, '86, '91 both 2wd & '95, '04 both 4wd, and '92 & '08 F150's 4wd and have liked them all. They both have there advantages over the other. I have hauled and towed with both, but the F150 is the obvious choice for both. My 4.6L w/4-sp. auto in my '08 F150 gets as good of mileage as my '04 FX4 Level II 4.0L w/5-sp. manual did. But most of my driving consists of back country roads with lots of stop and go. Hope that this will help with your decision.

Welcome to the board.

The choice may come down to what you intend to use the truck for. The smaller truck won't be able to tow/haul as much weight, but it will be easier to handle in tighter places. Good luck with your decision, either way, it's a Ford!

I have also had several rangers and moved up to my first f150. Loved the rangers but with a family, even the four door isn't enough. F150 is way bigger and feels much more solid on the road. My 00 ranger had 167k on it when I traded her in on the 150 and the only thing I ever HAD to fix other than wear and tear items was a brake master cylinder. Ive been through a trans in the 150 but I did buy it used. Hope this helps.
