Default New Old Guy

Hello and thanks in advance,

I just purchased a 1989 f150 with the inline 6 for my 15 yo son. The previous owner was attempting an egr delete and the engine bay is a mess. I was thinking that it would be a great opportunity for him to how to rebuild an engine and general automotive knowledge. I'm no expert but I can turn a wrench. Anyway, I have an 2 extra 4.9 engines laying around, a complete and a long block from 1979's. Am I crazy to think that rebuilding one of the carbeurated engines while they are out and swaping it for the efi engine is a good idea. It just seems like it would be easier for my son to understand not to mention easier for me to look like a pro in his eyes. If there are any important issues to look out for I would appreciate any knowledge you pros could pass on.

Thanks

Jonny
