Hello, everyone! My name is Jason and although I have had my 2011 F150 EcoBoost since it was brand new (and have loved just about every mile of it, by the way), there are some pretty major things that have popped up and I thought this might be the perfect place to get some advice.
I will also add this on a separate thread, but in a nutshell: about a year ago, I was told by my mechanic (also the dealer I purchased from) that my timing chain needed to be replaced and that it would cost me about $5k (I live in Seattle). I was also told that I could drive it still without getting it replaced but that it would obviously not work as well. I was not in a financial place to spend that much money so I have been driving it ever since. It is a little worse but is becoming problematic and I really need to do something about it. The dealer now says that, since I have been driving it, they would now recommend just replacing the entire engine for $13k. They did not look at it before giving the second quote.
I suppose my question is this: should I take it somewhere else to see if I can just get by with doing the timing chain service? Additionally, it seems as though that is a service that not a lot of shops have the ability to do. Does anyone here know of a mechanic in Seattle that would be able to do this? Obviously, I would rather pay $5k than $13k...and I would love to be able to keep my truck if possible.
Any advice would be massively appreciated!!
Thanks, all!

Welcome.
I would get a 2nd opinion.
Also, try posting your issue in the ( 2009 - 2014 Ford F150 ) section of the site..
