New guy, from Raleigh
Not new to Ford trucks, but new to the frum.... just reading and getting information
I ordered my last Ford from Douglas Ford in Summit NJ, back in January 1993. Given they had a small selection, my salesman said, why noy just order what you want instead of settling for "close but no cigar"?
22 years later, my Ranger STX 4.0 supercab was getting wore out, but Ford no longer made Rangers... So I swallowed my pride and bought a Mazda 6. Nice car, but in the four years I've owned it.... I've thought to myself, I NEED a truck many times more, than I ever thought "I need a sedan" when I had the truck.
Fast forward to a month ago... when I get an EMAIL from Ford touting the new Ranger.
I went to FORD.COM, and poked around looking at options, fuel economy, prices etc. I did the "build your own" and came up with a Lariat Supercab, 2x4 for about $35k, then selected "find my truck" and all they offered was crew cab, 4x4 in the $45k range.
This lead me to look at the F-150s.
Seems to me I can get a well optioned F-150 late model USED for less than a Ranger (yeah, I know... it's new, and no one is going to deal on them)
But....
The Old Ranger was a compact, the new one is "mid-sized"
the old Ranger gave 20 MPH, while the 6 cylinder was in the mid teens, and the V-8 was low teens
Today, the Ranger and the V-6 ego boost are nearly the same, and even the 5.0 isn't THAT bad
Either way it's a chunk of change, and before I part with MY money.... I decided to look up a F-150 forum, and get REAL data, from REAL owners.... not some publicity agent
I am here to learn
