Default New Guy in MA

Hey all,
New guy here. Thinking about a new (to me) truck.

I used to tow with an old 79 F250. 400M, NP435, 4WD, great truck. Eventually it just became too rough and I let it go. I then moved to a Suburban, 1500 4WD. It's a great truck, tows my off-road Jeep on a trailer pretty well, but it's getting long in the tooth too at almost 170K.

Thinking about getting back into a pickup in the Spring, thinking F250 again or possibly an F150 wtih whatever tow package they came with.

I'm a used car guy, so proabably in the 5000-7000 or so price range, 4WD, V8, and keep it lowest mileage I can find.

Is there any year/motor/package that I'd want to look for, or those that I'd want to avoid? I've heard the F250 V10 isn't that great of a motor. I'm thinking 5.4 V8.

Thanks for any insight!
Pete

Not sure I would want to tow a Jeep with my 5.4, but I have 3.55's. Maybe the 3.73 rear or stepping up to a 4.10 would do it.

Thanks man. I'm assuming the tow package would have 3.73s, tranny cooler, etc. That's what I've got on my 98 Suburban.
