Default New Guy Here

Hello! Lael here, from Tucson, AZ. I found this forum looking for information on a CEL for my 4.2L F150. It was pulling the P0174 code. I was finding all kinds of "fixes" on other sites, but on here I found THE fix, which was replacing the intake gaskets. I paid a couple hundred to have that done, and saved myself a ton of money and aggravation.

The truck in my garage has an interesting story. At the end of January, my family and I were moving into a new house, and I needed an extra truck to take over after returning the UHaul. A friend from work loaned me this truck you see here, which I fell in love with right away. I let her know if she ever wanted to sell it to let me know. She said right away that she was looking to sell it for something more economical (She drives 100 miles round trip to work). The truck had 226k miles on the 4.2L / 5 speed. It is in great shape, with the exception of some minor body damage, and runs incredibly. The price? $2k.I have put 3k miles on it in my first two months.

Thanks for being here and leading me to the right fix for my truck! I hope to be here for a while.

Welcome from SoCal. You hit a home run on the intake gaskets. I is the answer to all the 4.2L issues. I did mine a year ago and it runs great. You got a great deal on the repair. I did my own and the parts were $300.

Thanks, Marc! I was really happy with the total on it. It was a Brake Max that did the work. I had an oil change done with 21 point inspection, tire rotation and the intake gaskets, and the total bill was just a hair over $300 after tax and all shop fees. It runs better than before the gaskets, and I am able to get 340 miles out of a full tank of gas. I haven't properly calculated the MPG over a four tank average, but that's pretty good IMO.
