Default New guy 94 starting problem

Hi im new looking for some help with my 94 5.8L starting problem. she starts cold every time if i heat it up and shut her off for more then 20 min it cranks but wont start until the engin cools off i replaced the temp senser coil and starter maby modual?

You may have a problem with starter heat soak. An easy and inexpensive way to find out is to place a temporary insulator between the starter and the engine. Take a large piece of aluminum foil, fold it in half and place it between the starter and engine block. If that solves the problem, purchase one of those starter heat shields, install it and the problem is permanently solved.

This may not work, but it is inexpensive, quick and will eliminate one possibility.

I have a factory heat shield and swaped starters the seccond i parked the starter was hot but like i said i have a shield. you dont think its the modual. or because my buddy drove it from cally to mass mid winter and thats when the problem arose (it lived in cally its whole life until last winter)

Welcome to the forum ..lots of good info and guys here... be sure to post some pictures .... theres a module in the dist.. you might check that out... the next time it dont start i would check to see if its firing at all plugs

i think it must be the modual theres no way its the distributer also there was another time it cut out on me i coasted off the road only the engin cut out ac music all workin i opened the hood and even in the cab i could smell electrical hoped back in started no problem the times it cut out while she was runing was when it was pouring rain maby a sticky valve? but i am thinking modual

how old are the dist cap and rotor and plug wires... my 02 would run like crap when it rain'd ... couldnt figure out what it was... figured out it was the spark plug wires...you might try that

all the plug wires wer done last year i cleaned the cap and roder it made no differance probly just get a new one when it starts there is no problem only twice in the rain it cut out and one other time on a real hot day i got a ride around the courner picked up a coil put it in on the side of the road
still nothing had my dad come pull me off the road with a 10,000 lb tie down strap came back a few hours later started no problem
